Perfect froth forms between 62°C and 68°C depending on the type of milk you are frothing. The Capperfection froth meter adheres to your frothing jug and changes colour progressively as the temperature of the milk rises allowing you to judge the temperature precisely every time.
Step 1: Put cold milk in the milk jug (the colder the better).
Step 2: Froth the milk watching the Capperfection froth meter carefully. The change in colour will tell you the temperature of the milk. Stop frothing when the temperature reaches about 65°C
Step 3: Different milks froth at slightly different temperatures. Experiment with slight variations either side of 65°C to learn what temperature suits your favourite milk.
Step 1: According to which hand you use to hold the milk pitcher, decide which side of the pitcher to apply the froth meter, so that you can still see the meter when in use.
Hint: on most espresso machines the steam wand is arranged for right hand use.
Step 2: Clean your milk frothing jug thoroughly and dry to remove any moisture, leaving a clean dry surface for the Capperfection froth meter to adhere to.
Step 3: Peel off the backing and apply the Capperfection froth meter to the outside of the jug below the cold milk level as shown in the picture.
Care of your Capperfection froth meter
Repeated soaking in hot water (such as in a dishwasher) or prolonged exposure to ultra-violet light (e.g. strong sunlight) will eventually affect the accuracy of your Capperfection froth meter. Hand-washed and kept out of direct sunlight it will give you many years of service.
